ITEM#1 GROUNDWATER PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT
There was a PowerPoint presentation made by Buck Schmidt of BasinWells Associates, consultant to Oro
Valley Water Utility, regarding the Oro Valley Aquifer. The discussion included the current aquifer conditions
the Groundwater Sustainability Study and recommendations for the future. Bostic of Basin Wells was also in
attendance and participated in the presentation. This was an informational item and there was no action taken
on this item.
ITEM#2 CENTRAL ARIZONA PROJECT WATER DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Philip Saletta, Water Utility Director, gave an update on the planning for the development of Central Arizona
Project water. The discussion included an update on the pipeline routing study. This study indicates that the
alternative that may be the best is one that splits at Camino De Oeste and Lambert Lane. There was also
discussion regarding the Northwest Water Providers Managers meeting with David Andrews, Oro Valley Town
Manager and Gilbert Davidson, Marana Town Manager. The discussion related to the IGA and moving forward
with that document and a public information process.
Discussion also included options for interim use of CAP Water through cooperative agreements with Tucson
Water. The concept is to store Oro Valley CAP water in the recharge facilities owned and operated by Tucson
water. This CAP recharged water could then be delivered as recovered groundwater to Oro Valley. The details
of a cooperative agreement with Tucson water would need to be developed in an agreement. This would deliver
wet water to Oro Valley for an interim period prior to the development of a direct delivery system. There was
consensus of the subcommittee to pursue further discussions with Tucson Water on this matter.
