LA CANADA DRIVE ORO VALLEY, ARIZONA CALL TO ORDER— Chair Hoffmann called the meeting to order at 5:08 p.m. Attendance: John Hoffmann — Chair Dave Powell - Commissioner Rick Reynolds— Commissioner Philip Saletta —Water Utility Director David Ruiz— Engineering Division Manager Robert Jacklitch —Project Manager CALL TO AUDIENCE —There were no members of the audience that requested to speak. ITEM #1 UPDATE ON NORTHWEST WATER PROVIDERS (P. Saletta) There was discussion regarding the concept of delivering our Central Arizona Project Water through recharge and recovery. A PowerPoint presentation was given by Mr. Saletta that described the possibilities for recharge and recovery in the vicinity of the Lower Santa Cruz Recharge Facility. Costs are being developed for this alternative by Carollo Engineers. The discussion included the well locations, well production, the delivery to the facilities and the delivery to the Oro Valley water Service Area. It was discussed how the project could be developed jointly with other NW Water Providers. The project would be phased with the first phase not having a treatment plant but using the natural characteristic of the aquifer to filter the CAP Water. It was also discussed that reliability for the delivery of CAP water can also be developed for a recharge and recovery option. There was no action taken on this item. ITEM #3 UPDATE ON CAP WATER STUDIES (D. Ruiz and R. Jacklitch) An update was given by Mr. Jacklitch regarding the preliminary work performed on Phase 1 of the water quality and distribution studies for the delivery of CAP water to Oro Valley. Phase 1 includes the delivery of OVWU's CAP recharged water through the TW water system. CH2M Hill has prepared some preliminary results which indicated that the amount of water that could be delivered is about 3,000 acre-feet per year. The average water quality would be higher in total dissolved solids than what is the existing, but there were no significant reversal of flows or potential corrosion impacts. There was discussion regarding the improvements to the water system that would be required to blend the CAP Water. Phase 2 will look into higher levels of TDS from the CAP Canal. There was no action taken on this item. 1 The Town of Oro Valley complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
