The truth is that a special census was requested and denied by the Federal Government. If you have been told that the town of Oro Valley is financially sound, you have been given false information. The truth is that the to,iin is $6,500.00 in debt, is acquiring new debt at the rate of about $3,000.00 per month, and has only collected $20.00, from internal sources. Collections from the Businesc Privelege Tax and. Building Permits is $0.00. If Oro Valley is disincorporated today the assessment to each homeowner will be about $20.00. At this rate, by the end of the year, the average assessment per homeowner will be about $140.00. If you have been told that Oro Valley is threatened with annexation by the City of Tucson, you have been given false information. The truth is that a recent study cpnducted by the city shows that public services would cost more than the revenues generated by an area such as Oro Valley. Furthermore, state law says that a city can only annex land adjacent to its own city limits and that owners of over 50 of asses'-ed valuation in the area to be annexed must favor annexation.
