ON MARCH 11 , 1969 , property owners in Pima County will have an
opportunity to vote on a. S7,800,000 bond issue . Included in the pro-
posed issue , 8500,000 has been earmarked for nine park properties now,
owned by Pima County, and one to he purchased and developed in an area
now devoid of recreation facilities ,
The 8500,000 of bond money will hopefully be matched , dollar for
dollar , with funds available through the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation
under the Land and Water Conservation Act of 1965. This amount of money
will enable the County Parks and Decreation Dept . to fully develop ,
equip and complete all ten parks.
8191 , 100. 00 has been allotted for the development of the 20 acre
Canyon Del Oro Park, including federal matching funds . This will pro-
vide the following for residents of a wide surrounding area :
1. Irrigation system for the entire park
2. Grassing , fertilizing , landscaping
3. Two Pee Wee league fields and backstops
4. Two combination restroom-ramadas
5 Parking lots and service roads
6. Playground equipment
7. Picnic tables , fireplaces and disposals
8. Two Ramadas
9. Four horseshoe courts and four shuffleboard courts
10. Swimming pool and bathhouse
Your "yes" vote March. 11th on the proposed 8500 ,000 bond issue
for recreation will make it possible for the Department to complete
the park, and add a much needed facility to the Canyon Del Oro area .
