I know we are self-insured but we do have an administrator that handles our claims. It was pretty obvious to me that you preferred to go in the their direction of budget and finance [vice Mayor] versus utilizing the Dr. you already have on the Council. Mr. Gephardt said that the committee needed to have at least five people I would recommend you include Dr. Mo Green. Frankly, there is not one of you on the town Council other than Councilman green that have been involved closely with the medical profession and the health insurance industry. It's one thing to send your bills into your husband\wife's insurance company to get paid. It's quite another thing to work through the complicated process that is our health insurance industry today. I sometimes sense that our town Council is a popularity contest, ruled by the majority and forgetting the minority. As always it will be interesting to see how you proceed on this manner. The mind is its own place, and in itself Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven. We are writing to stress our concerns and oppose the OVCN rezone and new development, project case # 2002978. We agree with the concerns that the Calle Buena Vista neighborhood group has mentioned in prior neighborhood meetings. The increase in traffic, noise pollution, light pollution, energy use, altered drainage, poor animal conservation, decreased natural desert landscape and numerous safety concerns would dramatically impact our neighborhood dinamic for the worse. We are residents who live directly in front of Calle Concordia and we are most concerned about the increased traffic. From our personal experience, normal traffic on Calle Concordia is already well over capacity. Moreover, the speeders, loud exhaust/ music, emission pollution and littering is nearly unbearable as is. An establishment of this size would devastate the lifestyles of the long time residents and the newly established residents such as myself and my partner. We have lived in the neighborhood for 5 years and can only imagine how shattering this would be for those who have lived in the neighborhood for decades. This would completely change the dynamic of the neighborhood in countless ways that have already been mentioned above. We don't believe the proposed motives stated by OVCN, for this desired establishment are honest. The overall scale of the current OVCN rezoning rendering seems to be unnecessary for an establishment that solely strives to support youth group sports and religious platforming. We think this outrageous development is more of a business venture than it is a religious community outlet like OVCN is saying it will be. We are active OVCN members but we are not in favor of their desired rezone. We don't see how the OVCN rezone and new development project is appropriate for a neighborhood. A building like this is just not suitable for any residential neighborhood. We would like to see our neighborhood improve, not have its already bad features emphasized. Parts of this quiet land are zoned for horses which people ride on our streets and dirt roads. CDO students practice their runs and others walk, ride bikes and wheel baby carriages. The streets here are just large enough to handle the school traffic and sporting events from both the Aquatic Center and the high school . More traffic would have a deleterious effect from the intended sports complex: noise, cars parking on residential streets, and traffic congestion. We have few sidewalks and the potential for accidents to pedestrians and equestrians will increase. Our neighborhood would forever be changed with property values plummeting and any number of ugly events possibly occuring from increased activity. I would like the church to build their complex in an underserved part of Pima Cty such as Catalina which is just up the road or in South Tucson where outreach to disadvantaged youth and others is sorely needed. We are lucky to have James Kreigh Park, CDO athletic fields and the fabulous Aquatic Center and of course, Catalina State Park close by. The goals of the church may be to bring in their youth. I hope they could involve them in helping the disadvantaged at soup kitchens, or immigrants or clearing buffet grass.... anything to "repair the world, the community, other people". A sports complex is a great idea, but it's simply not needed here. In addition, Buena Vista would no longer be "Buena", but "Concrete" Vista. Please review this with the utmost care and with a thought to the continued future of a serene part of Oro Valley. As new residents of Oro Valley since November, 2021, we didn't pay over $1,000,000 to invest into a commercial neighborhood that would drive our residential property down in value. We did invest in this community as a beautiful ranchette property where we could enjoy our beautiful desert surroundings in the heart of Oro Valley. We just retired and moved into our home on - January 2022. We plan to live here the rest of our lives and have family members living nearby: my wife grew up in Oro Valley. The Church of the Nazarene has no right to destroy this peaceful neighborhood with a mammoth, self-serving development project that is unrelated to church services. There must be many many alternative sites they could build on. The sheer size of these multi -story buildings do not belong in this peaceful neighborhood. We find it appalling that the church is threatening a lawsuit if they are not allowed to wreck one of the oldest neighborhoods in Oro Valley. In this instance, the Church of the Nazarene, seems more inclined to serve mammon than God. We respectfully request that you deny the Church of the Nazarene rezoning request and allow this quiet neighborhood to maintain its' lengthy and unquestionable charm. I am writing to you in response to the announcement of another neighbor hood meeting on Oct 24 for the rezoning request.by OVCN I live next door to the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene. I am now bounded on two sides of my five acre home site since their purchase of the ten acre site on my East side. The church wishes to build an enormous athletic compound which will drastically effect the lifestyle of many residents within a mile radius of this sports complex. As you have heard from most of these residents we are vehemently against this re zoning proposal. The original church promised to be a great neighbor and be unobtrusive to all who live nearby. We have accepted them even as they built two huge new buildings in the past few years. This was to accommodate their growing congregation. No one objected because it was a genuine part of the church. We all feel that this sports complex is not part of the church. It is a commercial enterprise that will affect us in a detrimental fashion. Traffic, lights, noise, flooding just a few of or concerns. Wee already have CDDo high School , Aquatics center, Kreigh park and the O to Valley facility yard in our neighborhood. We are good neighbors to all of this institutions. We are happy to be neighbors to them. We feel that this new athletic compound is over kill and will drastically change the value of our property and the nature of our life style these would like for you r take another look at the video produced to show who we are and what we value as our wonderful neighborhood exists today.
