Im writing to ask that you consider approving the marketplace conceptual plan. I don't see a good plan B on this. Stores will not be coming in and the movie theater will close. i hate to see the theater close. Thankyou. Our family has worked and lived in Oro Valley since 2008, and during that time we have witnessed the birth of the Marketplace, as well as the unfulfilled promises that it would turn into a vibrant regional destination. For over a decade now, we have looked at dirt lots and empty storefronts in that shopping center. The original design has not worked out, and it's time to try something new that will bring economic vitality to that development. Our original concerns with the proposed plans for the Marketplace were the number of hotels and apartment buildings they wanted to build, and the height of the buildings they want to build. You, the Council, fulfilled your duties and got those building heights and setbacks adjusted to fall closely in line with the zoning requirements. Bravo! But now, it is time to start working with the developers to get this project started. Comments have been made regarding several details of Town West's proposal to the effect that "we were fooled once by Vestar, and now Town West is trying to pull the bait and switch." This isn't true. First, Town West is a Tucson -based company with many successful shopping centers here, not an out of town conglomerate trying to make a buck. Second, they have already invested in the Marketplace, including putting $100k down to get the rights to a hotel that they weren't even sure they would be allowed to build. That's commitment. It's time for the Oro Valley Town Council to commit to getting this project approved. As Councilmember Greene accurately commented last week, let's not practice architecture without a license. As long as they meet the requirements, let the developer decide the best place for putting the buildings. Thank you, Steve & Elizabeth Snyder
