David,
One more clarification item ... Nicole also mentioned this morning that Paul may want additional information on the
offsite paving, i.e. the striping connection from existing Moore Road to the proposed improvements. Below is our email
summary to Lennar that described the two options we discussed with you and Jose and the outcome of the meeting.
Please let me know what additional information we can provide on the plans to help clarify the design intent.

Subject: Eagles Rest Moore Road Design
Nicole and Kevin,
We met with David Laws and Jose Rodriguez at Oro Valley last week and presented two options for the Moore Road
widening. The reason for the two options is that Moore Road to the east is a standard 32' of pavement on each side of a
20' median, while the existing section to the west has 36' of pavement with curb and gutter for eastbound traffic (to
accommodate the existing two-way traffic in front of our project) and 32' of pavement for westbound traffic. This
creates a 6' disparity (4' extra pavement + 2' gutter) when connecting the sections. The attached cross sections show
the concept of the two options.
Option A — matches the existing cross section to the east and holds a consistent section of 32' of pavement on both sides
of a 20' median. The median will have vertical curb on both sides and the edge of the road will use curb and
gutter. They will allow a reduced striped gore at the west end of the project so that the existing curb and catch basin in
that area can remain intact. This option removes approximately 500' of curb and gutter that may have been salvageable
in Option B.
Option B — holds the existing 36' of pavement and curb and gutter for the eastbound travel lanes and ties in to the
existing eastern section with a fairly short transition. This option would preserve approximately 500' of curb and gutter,
however there would be multiple transitions along the median from vertical curb to curb and gutter. The extra 6' of
driving surface (includes gutter area) would have to be added to one or both of the eastbound travel lanes.
After discussion on both options, Oro Valley decided they would like us to proceed with Option A. They did not want the
extra 6' of driving surface in one or both of the eastbound travel lanes since this could cause confusion to drivers. They
agreed to use a reduced gore area at our connection point to the west so we can preserve the existing curb and catch
basin in that area.
We have full size print outs of each of these options that we can go over with you if you need more information. Please
let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
