HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - Government Review Task Force - 9/28/2000 TOWN OF ORO VALLEY GOVERNMENT REVIEW TASK FORCE MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 28, 2000 • The seventh Government Review Task Force meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman Kriegh at 4:30 p.m. • ATTENDANCE: • Vice-Chairman Jim Kriegh • Larry Holden • Marilyn Cook • Richard Feinberg • Don Dvorak • Susan Baczkiewicz • Chairman Paul Loomis [absent] • Kathi Cuvelier [absent] • Dan Dudley [absent] • APPROVAL, OF MINUTES. Larry Holden motioned for approval of the September 14, 2000 meeting minutes. Seconded by Marilyn Cook. Motion carried 5-0. • VICE-MAYOR SELECTION. All of the final questions and concerns of the Task Force in reference to the proposed ordinance concerning the Mayor, Vice-Mayor, and Mayor Pro Tempore, were compiled prior to the meeting. Specifically, the Task Force discussed the following: • 2-1-1(A) the four-year overlapping term of office for elected officers; • 2-1-1(F) the updated procedures for official bonds; • 2-1-2 the voting age and the age to be eligible to serve as a Council Member; • 2-1-3 the nomination for office of Mayor by an incumbent; • 2-1-4(C) the duties of the Vice-Mayor; • 2-1-5 the appointment of a Mayor Pro Tempore, of which Richard Feinberg motioned to leave the text, in essence, as found in the original Oro Valley Town Code. Seconded by Don Dvorak. Motion carried 5-0. • 2-1-6 vacancy defined, of which Richard Feinberg motioned to exclude the specific definitions of what may be considered a vacancy and leave the reference to ARS X38-291 so that one is directed to the full statutory definition. Seconded by Larry Holden. Motion carried 5-0; and • 2-1-6(B)(2) vacancy in the Office of Mayor. • Don Dvorak motioned to present the MayorNice-Mayor/Mayor Pro Tempore ordinance, with revisions as so noted above, as the complete and final draft of the GTF. Seconded by Marilyn Cook. Motion carried 5-0. F:\Susan\Govt Task Force\Minutes 092800 • NEW BUSINESS. The final questions and concerns of the Task Force in regard to the final report of the Council Policies/Procedures subcommittee will be collected in order to compile a final draft for an extensive review at the upcoming Special Meeting. • NEXT MEETING. Chairman Loomis had previously declared a Special Meeting for Monday, October 2, 2000, at 4:30 p.m., to discuss the Council Policies/Procedures. Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be Monday, October 9, 2000, at 4:30 p.m. • ADJOURNMENT. Larry Holden moved to adjourn at 5:42 p.m. Richard Feinberg seconded the Motion.
