ROLL CALL PRESENT: ABSENT: Bill Garner Scott Ingram Bill Glore Dick Tracy Bob Kovitz John Teegen Bud Stoddard Les Caid Lt. Jason Larter Sue Philpot Karen Hauca Todd Jaeger 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—APRIL 12, 2006 Mr. Garner asked everyone to review minutes, and then asked Colleen to correct Item 5, spelling of Citizen's to Citizen in the first line. MOTION: Mr. Stoddard MOVED to approve the April 12, 2006 minutes as corrected. Lt. • Larter SECONDED the motion. Motion carried, 7-0. 2. SUSPENSION OF JULY AND AUGUST MEETINGS Lt. Larter discussed these two regular meetings having been suspended in the past and MOVED to suspend for this year. Mr. Stoddard SECONDED the motion. Motion carried, 7-0. 3. INTERVAL FOR FUTURE REGULAR MEETINGS Mr. Garner asked for clarification of this agenda item. Lt. Larter explained that because most objectives have been met, agenda items had become intermittent and fairly routine. Mr. Kovitz reminded the group that the Mayor had objected to a similar proposal approximately two years ago. Mr. Glore suggested having bi-monthly meetings. 6/21/06 Minutes,Oro Valley Citizens Corps Council Page 2 of 2 Mr. Jaeger advised there was very little dealt with at the regular meetings, and feels every other month would be adequate to have regular meetings — that if the need arose, special meetings could easily be called. Lt. Larter discussed that a bi-monthly schedule might have appeal, since it would lighten the burden on member's already busy schedules, thereby increasing attendance. Mr. Garner expressed concern that lessening the frequency might 'take it off members' radar' and cause a problem having quorum at regular meetings. Mr. Kovitz suggested a calendar be established for future meetings so members would have that information available in advance for scheduling purposes. Ms. Hauca MOVED to schedule bi-monthly regular meetings. Mr. Glore SECONDED the motion. Motion carried 6-1. Colleen was to provide a schedule of bi-monthly meetings for the remainder of this year and next year, to start at 5:00 p.m. as follows: September 13, 2006 May 9, 2007 November 8, 2006 July 11, 2007 January 10, 2007 September 12, 2007 March 14, 2007 November 14, 2007 4. SET DATE AND TIME FOR NEXT REGULAR MEETING Mr. Garner MOVED that the next regular meeting be held September 13, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. Mr. Jaeger SECONDED the motion. Motion carried 7-0. 5. OTHER BUSINESS Mr. Kovitz reported that Channel 9, Channel 4, and local newspapers have all recognized Oro Valley accomplishing `StormReady' status. He also advised that two representatives from the National Weather Service were scheduled to be in attendance at the Town Council meeting scheduled at 7:00 p.m., June 21, 2006 to help recognize our StormReady status. 6. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Kovitz MOVED to adjourn the meeting at 6:47 p.m. Mr. Stoddard SECONDED the motion. Motion carried 7-0.
