Application for a minor plat change is being made to the town of Oro Valley, for the purpose of
moving the driveway location from Allthorn Place to Honey Bee Trail. Please reference the
attached "Location Map with Aerial". The reasons are as follows:
1. The current location is very steep and would result in the unnecessary destruction of
portions of the outcroppings and vegetation. The proposed location is a natural fit for the
topography of this unique lot. I met with the Design Review Committee's approving
Architect, along with the Honey Bee Canyon Estates Community Management
representative, and they both conveyed that the designated location would not be allowed
since there is a much better alternative that would fit the native contours of the lot, i.e. off
of Honey Bee Trail. We have to trench for utilities at the proposed location anyway.
2. Pima County Addressing has already given a "Honey Bee Trail" address to this lot. It is
marked on the Final Plat but I don't believe it has been recorded as such. The lot owner is
concerned that having an address off of Honey Bee Trail, but a driveway off of Allthorn
Place will create confusion for their guests, as well as the unlikely event that an
ambulance or fire truck driver might also get confused.
3. There is not a "no access easement", so a surveyor legal description would not be
necessary, and it conforms to the 150' restriction from the intersection. Changing the
location would be a simple notation on the Plat.
I have had a couple of conversations over-the-counter with staff and they agree that this
request, in this particular case, is logical and reasonable. Please feel free to contact me for
