ORO VALLEY, ARIZONA CALL TO ORDER— Chair Milkey called the meeting to order at 10:33 a.m. ` PRESE�IT: Robert Milkey— Chair . � Shann,a Weagle - Commissioner Philip Saletta —Water Utility Director Peter Abraham —Water Resources and Planning Manager CALL TO AUDIENCE — No speakers. ITEM #1 — DISCUSSION AND UPDATE REGARDING FUTURE CAP WATER DELIVERY AND POTENTIAL PARTNERING WITH METRO WATER DISTRICT AND MARANA UTILITIES There was discussion regarding the possible partnership with Metro Water District and Marana Utilities to develop and deliver additional CAP water through recharge and recovery. The proposed contemplates the delivery of recharged CAP water frorx� wells to be constructed near the Avra Valley Recharge Project and the Lower Santa Cruz Recharge Project. A proposed pipeline and pump system would be constructed to deliver the CAP water to the participating �entities. The proposed project could be delivering CAP water in 2024. Numerous technical financial and institutional issues will need to be evaluated. These include water quality, delivery capacity, costs, participation level, project schedule, business �tructure and any intergovernmental agreements. There was consensus that this item will be an ongoing discussion, will be reviewed with the Commission and then presented to Council for approval. It is anticipated that a decision would be made sometime this fall before the end of 2016. No formal action was taken or required. - , - ITEM ##2 — DISCUSSION AND UPDATE REGARDING HOOVER POWER REALLOCATION THROUGH THE ARIZONA POWER AUTHORITY There was discussion regarding the background and an update on the Oro Valley Water Utility application for Hoover hydro-electric power. The Water Utility was allocated 203 kilowatts of capacity and 442,914 kilowatt-hours �of energy from the Arizona Power Authority. The Water� Utility is working with Tucson Electric Power regarding bill crediting to determine the potential cost savings for the delivery of this power. The schedule for the contract with APA for delivery of the power will need to be approved by October of 2016. The contract will be reviewed by the Commission and a recommendation made to Council. . � No formal action was taken or required. ITEM #3 — DISCUSSION AND UPDATE REGARDING LONG TERM WATER RESOURCE PLANNING There was discussion regarding the elements of a long-term water resource planning study. These included technical, business, environmental, financial, institutional and legal issues. There was discussion regarding future demands, planning area and project schedule. There was discussion regarding the 5,500 acre-foot per year groundwater production rate in relation to long-term planning for the Oro Valley service area. This item will remain a topic for the � subcommittee, particularly regarding future demands and source of supply. No formal action was taken or required. CALL TO AUDIENCE - No speakers.
