LA CANADA DRIVE ORO VALLEY, ARIZONA CALL TO ORDER— Chair Hoffmann called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Attendance: John Hoffmann— Chair Rick Reynolds— Commissioner Robert Milkey—Commissioner &WUC Chair Philip Saletta—Water Utility Director David Ruiz— Engineering Division Manager Robert Jacklitch —Project Manager CALL TO AUDIENCE —There were no members of the audience in attendance and therefore no requests to speak. ITEM #1 - DISCUSSION AND UPDATE ON CENTRAL ARIZONA PROJECT WATER DELIVERIES AND FUTURE PLANNING FOR CAP WATER (P. Saletta, D. Ruiz & R. Jacklitch) There was discussion regarding the CAP water delivery project and that the IGA has been implements and recharge and recovery of our CAP water was going smoothly. To date we have delivered 142 AF of our CAP water. Water Quality monitoring was discussed. There was discussion on blending in the system and the possibility of a D-E Booster and the benefits of the additional storage at La Canada Reservoir. There was discussion regarding future planning for CAP water deliveries along Oracle Road area and possibly the Countryside water service area. ITEM #2 - DISCUSSION ON PRESENTATION OF GROUNDWATER, CAP WATER AND RECLAIMED WATER DATA TO THE WATER UTILITY COMMISSION (Chair Hoffmann) There was a discussion regarding the presentation of data to the Water Utility Commission and to include water level data and well pumping history on a periodic basis. Staff will look into this and present an example to the subcommittee members for review. There was also discussion about including CAP water deliveries into the data presented to the Commission. It was discussed that information and data could be presented on a rolling 13-month basis. Combining some of the graphs was also discussed. For the reclaimed water graphs, it was discussed to not include the smaller users. Staff will make the suggested changes. ITEM #3— DISCUSSION ON THE RECLAIMED WATER SYSTEM POTENTIAL EXPANSION AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT (Commissioner Reynolds, P. Saletta & D. Ruiz) There was discussion about the possibilities of expanding the reclaimed water system. A new smaller customer was recently added. Other potential sites include the Pusch Ridge 9-hole golf course. Due to the distance this would be a costly project but could be constructed in the future. The best opportunities in the future include irrigation of fields at the proposed Naranja Park and The Town of Oro Valley complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Copper Creek Elementary. It was also discussed that there are limitations on the source of reclaimed water and the amount of capacity in the line under our IGA with Tucson Water. There was discussion on the possibility of HOAs using reclaimed. This has been looked at also and there may be some limited opportunities if there was adequate pressure available and backflow protection was provided. There was also discussion that the IGA for reclaimed water with Tucson needed to be renegotiated in terms of the interruptible supply and the rate. ITEM #4— DISCUSSION ON ADD WATER (P. Saletta) There was discussion that Oro Valley through Southern Arizona Water Users Association is participating in the ADD Water Project to acquire, develop and deliver additional water supply from the Colorado River. This is a long-term state-wide project involving numerous water providers, the Central Arizona Water Conservation District, the Arizona Department of Water Resources and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
