Subject: Pusch Ridge Disk Golf
We live on the 3rd hole of Pusch Ridge Golf Course, about 150-160 yards from the white tees on the "slice" side for right
handers. It's deadly. Really. Last winter, our home was hit from golf balls at least 25 times. Twice, I was on the back
patio and a golf ball wizzed over my head, narrowly missing me, then slammed against our back wall and bounced
around on the cement. In addition, golf balls land on our roof, land in our patio, land in the neighbor's pool, land all the
way across the street in our neighbor's front yards.
We love playing golf at Pusch Ridge, because it's extremely challenging with elevations, slopes, tough green positions,
very narrow fairways, and a great workout, too! Let's not forget how beautiful the setting is, also. This course is
designed for skilled golfers who have the experience to keep the ball in the fairways and out of native vegetation. But,
Pusch Ridge being promoted as "Fast, Fun & Friendly" is anything but that. First time "golfers(?)" show up because it's
inexpensive, there is no Marshall's oversight, golf etiquette is non existent, and pace of play can be excruciatingly slow.
It appears Pusch Ridge Golf is lacking in management oversight. Unlike Conquistador and Canada, there are no
"Starters", "Marshalls", enforced dress codes, etc. Perhaps "Free For All" should be added to the "Fast, Fun & Friendly"
motto.
Now that we've witnessed the Disk Golfers enjoying their sport on Pusch Ridge, we couldn't be more pleased. So far, the
whole vibe seems peaceful & wonderful. But, it will take time observing and experiencing a season of Disk Golfers in our
backyard, listening to neighbor's comments, etc.
We would miss golfing at Pusch Ridge, but If you all decided to include Disk Golf, we would be cautiously supportive.
BTW, can we still take a walk on the course?
Thanks for all you do supporting our Community!

Dear Oro Valley City Council Members:
As a Sun City Oro Valley resident, I urge you to deny the request for the Church of the Nazarene sports complex:
1. This huge, lighted complex is entirely inappropriate for any kind of residential area, including this historic, scenic
neighborhood. Parking, traffic, night lights, noise seven days a week are not something that residents expect or deserve.
These homeowners pay property taxes that support our community, the church does not.
3. There are plenty of existing opportunities in our community for young people to participate in sports programs that
are inclusive of gender, race and gender -identification. The Chruch of the Nazarene does not necessarily subscribe to
that inclusivity.
Thank you for your consideration of my opinion. I do not know anyone in the affected neighborhood, this is my view as
an Oro Valley resident.
Sincerely,
Mary E Bradshaw

Dear Council,
It has come to my attention that you are considering a shift in the direction of Pusch Ridge away from being primarily a
traditional golf course.
If you were to poll the people that have played golf at Pusch Ridge you would hear the words .... fun, challenging, unique,
special. Those are powerful words that any marketing executive would love to hear about the product or service they
were offering. Why even consider a different direction now that we have proven in the last two years the viability, level
of interest, level of play and community spirit that exists around Pusch Ridge.
As someone who has played virtually every Monday and Wednesday from the start to the finish of the last two
seasons .... I implore you to reconsider.
Pusch Ridge 'Golf Course'....... is a gem with incredible potential... not only as a golf course but as the focal point of a very
special community. With a bit more TLC from the grounds crew, Pusch Ridge could be one of the most fun, challenging
and picturesque 9 hole courses in the country.
I have been playing golf for nearly forty years and have played all over the country from Pebble Beach to PGA
National.... host of the Honda Classic .... to TPC River Highlands.... host of this week's PGA Tour stop. And many many
more marquee courses as well as countless private, public and municipal courses.... Pusch Ridge is unique and worth
investing further resources..... not fewer.
The Monday morning men's league is a prime example of how unique and special Pusch Ridge is ..... at most courses,
players tend to play with the same people week after week..... but on Mondays we are always playing with different
people and then (often as many as 40) gathering afterwards on the patio for an hour or two of conversation, bonding
and comradery. No where else have I seen or been a part of such a wonderful experience.
The Wednesday afternoon mixed couples league .... The Prickly Pairs.... is also very special and unique. As is the case at
most other courses, they will play a 'Nine and Dine ...... but again people tend to play with the same people week after
week. On Wednesdays we mix it up so everyone gets to play once or twice per season with everyone else, and then 35-
40 of us will go up to the Hilton for drinks and dinner or we all go to another nearby restaurant for dinner to also
support the many nearby restaurants in Oro Valley.
Please consider the financial impact locally, the lost comradery that traditional golf fosters, the lost connection to the
surrounding community and the impact on the home values surrounding PR if the course is neglected. It is safe to say,
traditional golf has been around for centuries and there are literally many millions of golfers, compared with the
relatively miniscule number of disc golfers.
Thanks for the opportunity to present my thoughts regarding Pusch Ridge.
Regards,
John

Subject: Council Agenda - 07.19.2023
Mr. Standish:
Good evening. I'm submitting this email as my written comments for Town Council with respect to the presentation,
speed study, and proposed improvements on Naranja Drive that appears on the council agenda dated July 19, 2023.
My name is John Barney and I live on Oro Valley. I moved here last summer, and one of many things
that drew me to Oro Valley was the network of multi -use trails and protected spaces for pedestrians / cyclists.
The speed study on Naranja mentions the "85th percentile" rule. Traffic engineers frequently cite that rule as
justification to raise speed limits when 15% or more of traffic is exceeding posted limits. You heard that right - people
breaking the law get to rewrite it. Thankfully I don't hear anyone calling for a higher speed limit, but the data clearly
demonstrates that 50% of drivers are already exceeding the posted limit. Curiously omitted from the report is any
recommendation for further sustained traffic enforcement.
Drivers move at the speed that the roads tell them to drive. Rather than designing roads to enable cars to go faster, we
should instead embrace ideas like Vision Zero with a goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries.
I'm not surprised the study found existing pedestrian volume too low to warrant a HAWK signal at the park entrance.
You build for what you want - not for what you have. I live two miles from Naranja Park, and I have never been there. It
isn't safe to get there on foot or on a bicycle. I instead frequent Riverfront Park where I can safely cross Lambert using
the HAWK signal.
I didn't know Olivia Villalobos or her family, but in her memory - we must take meaningful steps to protect others in our
community. There are some great recommendations in this report. We should do all those things and more.
In the long term, a protected multi -use path on Naranja between La Canada and 1st is absolutely needed. But right now,
a HAWK signal and crosswalk at the park entrance seems like the right thing to do even if the numbers today don't
support that conclusion.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
John Barney

Subject: Disc Golf at Pusch Ridge Golf Course
Mayor Winfield and Council Members,
I reside year round at the El Conquistador Patio Homes,
Course.
, near Hole 3 of the Pusch Ridge Golf
I would like the Council to address the following concerns at their 6/21/2024 meeting:
1. Our requirement of an addendum to affirm that disc golf is a "related use" and not golf as was defined in the
agreement between the HOAs and the Town.
2. Clarify your intentions with disc golf. Is your plan to explore the feasibility of disc golf as a replacement for the golf
after three years?
In addition, please note the following:
• Safety concerns:
• the close proximity of our homes
• property damage from discs
• Security concerns:
• a large number of part time residents
• players entering yards/climbing trees to retrieve expensive discs
• players on course after official close time
• Minimal oversight during operations:
• pro shop only open a few hours
• only random checks on course
Compatibility with the Neighborhood:
There are no regional precedents with disc golf adjacent to homes, especially retirement homes.
Our HOA agreement provides financial contribution to the town in exchange for operation as a golf course for at least 3
years. Not other uses.

FW: Pusch Ridge Disc Golf reconsiderations; lack of transparency

Subject: Pusch Ridge Disc Golf reconsiderations; lack of transparency
Dear Councilmember Greene
My name is Marie Daniels and live at overlooking the
4th hole of Pusch Ridge Golf Course.
It is with great concern and dismay that you and council have, without full disclosure and
transparency, made the decision to open Pusch Ridge Golf Course to disc golfing.
My grave concerns and questions are:
1. The town has been notified by the HOA's the Town has violated our HOA agreement and
jeopardized the future of this wonderful 9 hole gem after the three (3) year HOA
agreement expires.
2. Please address our requirement of an addendum to affirm that disc gold is a "related
use" and NOT golf as was defined in the agreement between the HOA's and the Town.
3. Is this not a total breach of our subsidy agreement???
4. This lack of consideration to Friends of Pusch Ridge and HOA on this unapproved disc golf
operation by the town council this summer has raised concerns of dual disc and golf.
5. Priority for this course should remain GOLF NOT DISC GOLF. This was NOT agreed upon
between the parties.
6. Us residents have safety and security concerns, i.e. close proximity of our homes and
potential property damage from the discs and/or retrieval of the valuable disc by
players;
1. There has already been issues with homeowners and disc players
7. How does the town plan to run these disc golf operations?
8. Please clarify your intentions with disc golf (transparency);
Security and Liability Concerns:
• there a many part time residents
• players entering private property/climbing trees to retrieve expensive discs potential
damaging property or injuring themselves in the process
• players on the course after official close time
Minimal oversight during operations:
• the pro shop is only open a few hours
• there are ultimately random checks on the course
In closing, the HOA's and their membership were told we had three years to prove golf can be
profitable and work for the town and residents.
WHY is the town adding the low revenue contribution and higher liability of disc golf to the town and
our residents vs the more family friendly higher revenue golf? This does not make sense.
will be attending the June 21 meeting to await answers and affirmation to the agreement
forged previously.
Thank you Council members Solomon and Greene for requesting this issue added to the meeting
agenda.
Sincerely,
Marie Daniels
