A MOTION was made by Member Herb lZutt and seconded by Fred McCulloch,to

Jan Kvancz, Chair, welcomed the Focus Group and announced that due to the Canyon del .
Oro Hig� School's graduation ceremony there v�ou�d not be as many members attending �

Mr. Parrott explained that the "Recomniend�d Standard" comes from the International
City 1Vlanagenzent 1�ssociation(ICIVIA), vvhich is based on a survey of communities
- across the United States. He explained that this included communities as small as ten

,Vice Chair Koslowski disagreed that the fire en�ines from Rural/Metro could be counted
because they are obligated to go elsewhere, therefoxe,the town could not depend on those

70 percent of rxien that operate in the towri are para�nedic trained. Cllief Hamby of Rural/
Ii�etro stated that inore thaxi half of his crew is paxamedic trained. IVIr. Parrott informed
Chaix I�vancz that the minimum paramed�c p�r tru.ck is at least 1 s

different contract and was inforined that this cost could be a third party billing.

capita", so if that nun�ber is incorrect,the cost of service per$1000 would also be

for this Strategic Plan to the Fire Advisory Corrimi�teeo He explained t�iat the Fire , �
Advisoxy Coaxirx�ittee will make the forrnal recor��mendation to the Towr�Council, and the
a Towr�Cou.ncil would make the�'inal determination on the Strategic I'lan that would be
��nplernenteds I�e added that he does no�h�.ve�.v�te,but vvill provide from a staff level,
a recommendation based upon his in�olvernent and the staff involven�ent in the process.

rneasurexnent, who will monitor and overs�e tJhat th�ese rules are followed.
IVIr. Sw�et stated that he has asked the tovvn attorney these questions and expects to have
a response frori�hinl in vvriting in the next week. �-Ie added that in essence, it is going to �
take an agreernent with l�ural/IVletro Fire�epartrxient and an inter�overnrnental

put on the ballet in 1�Toverriber to let�he t��9 s people speak.
1VIrs Svveet stated that this vvas soxnethin�that cou�d certainly be included in the
xecotnmendation as this Strate�ic Plan�o�s forwarde I-�e explained that the way Council
has directed this issue at the present ti�e is to do the Strategic Plan and s�t the standards;
let the two (2)providers ineet those standar�.s that are set by the citizens of the Town of
Oro Valley; and review them on a pexiodic bases. �Ie added that based on their
pexformance, the decision would be rx�ade as rather to have one provider or not.
