Water Utility Commission - CANCELLED October 9 at 5:00 p.m. Hopi Conference Room Budget and Finance Commission Regular Session October 17 at 4:00 p.m. Council Chambers Town Council Regular and Study Session October 18 at 6:00 p.m. Council Chambers Stormwater Utility Commission Meeting – CANCELLED October 19 at 4:00 p.m. Board of Adjustment – CANCELLED October 25 at 3:00 p.m. 4 Town Council Meeting Announcements October 4, 2023 Plans for Oro Valley's 50th Anniversary Celebration Objective 2.3.1: Plan for, promote, and engage the community in Oro Valley’s 50th anniversary celebration throughout 2024 Strategic Plan Objective + SMART Goals SMART Goals Provide engagement opportunities specific to each of the Town’s primary stakeholder groups: Residents, Businesses, Community Organizations and Employees. Opportunities should be launched/announced in Jan/Feb/March 2024 and promoted throughout 2024. Consult/interview at least 20 individual stakeholders in Q1 & Q2 of FY 2023/24 to generate stories and content about the Town’s history to educate and engage the community throughout 2024. Visually celebrate the Town’s 50th anniversary throughout 2024 by creating and implementing 50th Anniversary branding across all appropriate channels (e.g. website, social media, Vista Newsletter, press release headers, Town events like Celebrate OV, etc.) Branding efforts should launch in January 2024. The FY 23/24 budget provides $35K for the 50th Anniversary Budget Tentative allocations: Up to $5K for research, writing and interviews in partnership with consultant Dave Perry LLC $10K for Parks and Recreation to either enhance an existing event, add a 50th element/focus, or supplement Parks & Rec funds for a new event/activity that celebrates our 50th $10K for branded swag/items (such as keychains, t-shirts, totes, stickers, etc.) for community giveaways and contest prizes on social media and at events. $10K for opportunities such as: Large -scale, moveable timeline of OV’s first 50 years to set up at all major Town events A branded 50th info booth and signature game to have at all major Town events Opportunities with SAACA (TBD) such as an art exhibit or a commissioned art piece Additional promotional signage, banners and posters Working with our community partners Sponsorship + Support Oro Valley Historical Society Tucson Local Media (Explorer Newspaper) Hilton El Conquistador Tohono Chul SAACA OV Chamber of Commerce Others to come via personal outreach and Community Liaison opportunity Content Development (interviews, research, writing) Led by Communications Division Branding + Promotion Led by Communications Division Community Events, Activities & Liaisons Led by Parks & Recreation Shop Local Initiative Led by Community & Economic Development in partnership with the OV Chamber Primary Planning Components + Department Assignments Content Development Led by Communications Division Web page dedicated to 50th Anniversary—will serve as info hub for all activities Interactive timeline on website Large scale physical timeline display New podcast series focusing on the 50th Monthly themes and calendar of events The OV 50 (e.g. 50 things to do in OV; 50 leaders; 50 historical facts;50 businesses: etc.) Coloring page for kids Series of 12 monthly Explorer articles, in partnership with consultant Dave Perry LLC TBD: In-classroom presentations at Oro Valley schools, in partnership with consultant Dave Perry LLC Primary Planning Components + Tentative Deliverables Branding + Promotion Led by Communications Division Develop 50th Anniversary logo Brand all applicable Town collateral, such as the website, social media,PowerPoint presentations Promote 50th anniversary activities and opportunities throughout the year (to include the Oro Valley Historical Society when applicable) with Monthly full page print ads in the Explorer (sponsored), social media campaigns (paid), Town press releases and email blasts. Promotional flyers that are available at public events as well as online To sustain interest throughout the year, develop monthly themes as promotion platform Develop/implement "The OV 50" (e.g.50 things to do, 50 historical facts). Primary Planning Components + Tentative Deliverables Community Events, Activities + Liaisons Led by Parks and Recreation Develop and manage a year-long calendar of Town events to include relevant events by official partners (for example, SAACA, Tohono Chul, OV Chamber, Oro Valley Historical Society) Social media contests and activities related to the 50th A 50th branded booth set up at major Town events to include games/activities with 50th branded prizes Renaming of West Lambert Lane Park in conjunction with 50th; potential ribbon cutting or similar POC for liaisons from community groups and organizations who are interested in celebrating Staff is also exploring options for enhancing an event to commemorate the 50th Primary Planning Components + Tentative Deliverables Shop Local Initiative Led by Community and Economic Development in partnership with the OV Chamber Program is currently in development OV Chamber will choose 25 weeks for prize drawings. Each of those 25 weeks will spotlight two businesses where shoppers can participate in the drawing.
