Subject:April 1st Town Council Meeting
Council,
When I first read the agenda for tomorrow's meeting I was very excited to attend and voice my support for items 2 and 3 on the agenda
as they are obviously direct results of the work we have been doing as part of the PRAB. Unfortunately,I found out yesterday that I
will be in DC for an emergency work trip(in the air right now)and that the town council meeting announcement was not simply an
April.Fool's prank. In lieu of being able to attend the meeting and speak directly to the council I would like to send my written support
to you in hopes that you will pass it along to your fellow board members.
Agenda item 2:Parks and Rec Strategic Facilities Plan
I played many sports as a youngster growing up in OV and as a parent of three little ones I have been an AYSO and NYS soccer
coach. Over the past several years I have put much thought in how to expand the parks system in OV to accommodate the growing
numbers of children in youth sports as well as families and adults simply looking for somewhere to play.I am very proud of the work
the parks and recreation staff has done to creat this document in conjunction with constant inputs from the PRAB. The overall
approach of separating large user groups will allow parents to make less trips to practice and result in much higher quality
facilities. This approach also supports the vision of making OV a sports tourism destination.I strongly I courage the town council to
accept the strategic plan being presented so that we can begin implementation.
Agenda item3:Naranja Park Programming and Conceptual Design
It was great to be a part of the ribbon cutting ceremony at Naranja Park but we all know there is a lot of work and planning to be done.
The PRAB has been very involved in defining the programming that will be offered at Naranja Park as well as the conceptual design
of that programming. There have been many iterations over the years and I think we have come along way since since the original
2008 conceptual design. We at the PRAB are very proud of the changes that have been made and ask for your support.
Thank you all for all that you do and sacrifice,
Adam Wade
PRAB Chairman
