All the current land owners around this property Did NOT buy to have their house views or corridor view ruined by ONE land owner. Let that land owner go buy another piece of property that would allow him a better view. Why should ONE landowner ruin everyone else's view? No build area simply means, NO build area, thats why I purchased and built my CURRENT house. I'm totally against them trying to get some type of exception. Our current homes have taken a bath in the housing market, allowing this home to be built would once again decrease the value of our homes. Please, enough is enough. Do the right thing here and do not approve this exception. The original plat build plan is except able should he consider building. We paid a premium for this lot.We had it designed and are building our home based upon the information we had been given of the lots around us. Our total investment will be in excess of 1.5 million dollars. I will tell you that this mistake to get rid of the no build area on lot 167 is just that, a mistake. Without a formal approval by the council this is not really an approval. A janitor can approve this but again...does not have the authority to do so. The only option here without causing an uprising of everyone that owns or resides in Stone Canyon is to keep the no build area where it originally was..period! We could have purchased twenty other lots in there but again no build areas prohibited us from building our home on them. We look directly East at the mountains and by this house being placed up on the higher section would be like looking into a wall. The right thing needs to be done here; otherwise, this will be a precedence for everyone to follow to say well "he got to do it". The people that already have homes are the ones affected here. This placement would probably cost the three homes and two lots alone over 1.5million in reduced value by allowing this...if not more. I have no idea why adjoining lot owners were not informed of any of this which is very disturbing. The city needs to own up to their mistake and keep the no build zone where it is currently. My initial understanding was that the home was going to be build on the original pad area below. This would obviously not affect us like this would. If needed to we will fight tooth and nail to make sure this does not happen. The owner of lot 167 has done nothing but some staking here and there. There is plenty of room to get what he wants without the rest of us suffering. Lots are priced for a reason. This was a cheaper lot because of its challenges. This would allow him to have a flatter, higher section that would overall increase the value of his home but devaluing everyone else around him. My suggestion is that the city needs to make this guy happy somehow. If it takes buying his lot and paying his expenses then that's what should be done. I have over$325K invested into my project and we just graded our lot. We bought this lot with the understanding that "no build" means no build..simple as that. We have contacted and met with our attorney and are prepared to move forward with actions if this no build zone is altered in any way.
