Thanks for your distribution to council and staff. Take care, Dave ••• Nov. 19,2014 Members of the Oro Valley Town Council Town staff Ladies and gentlemen, The Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce supports item 2.b. on the Wednesday, Nov. 19 agenda, Ordinance (0)14-14, amending Section 28.6.B of the zoning code to add a new temporary sign type for businesses located within road construction zones. The proposal creates a 1-time, staff-level approval process for signage directing people to businesses for the duration of a road project. No council permission would be required. Oro Valley can become more responsive, with established sign guidelines, when road work comes along. We're less certain about the specific signage to be allowed. We hope signs are close to roadways (or even within rights-of-way), with legible type and arrows directing motorists to affected businesses. We respectfully suggest that town staff work with RTA's Main Street employees, who have extensive experience with construction signage, and may be able to share ideas on what works, and what doesn't. We encourage your support of this ordinance. Thank you.
