Thanks for your time and service. Dave July 2, 2014 Mayor Satish Hiremath Members of the Oro Valley Town Council Town staff Ladies and gentlemen, Thank you for contemplating temporary sign relief for businesses impacted by the Oracle Road construction project north of Tangerine Road, item 4 on tonight's agenda. Our Chamber stands in support of such relief. In addition, we would respectfully request some accommodation be given to the Rancho Vistoso Plaza, which is contiguous to Oracle Road and has seen impacts this week at 2 of its 3 entrances. The Rancho Vistoso Center is accessible from the north via a right-hand entrance off Oracle near Rancho Vistoso Urgent Care. Many southbound visitors to the center use that access, even though there is not a monument sign along Oracle. Fourteen businesses occupy space in the Rancho Vistoso Center: Oro Valley Bicycle, Walgreens, Vistoso Automotive, Chase Bank, the Great American Playhouse, Bon Voyage Travel, Pusch Ridge Design and Remodel, Sun Cleaners, Grain River Asian Bistro, All the Buzz Café, Tortoise and the Hair, State Farm / Frank Raney, the UPS Store and Oro Valley Pet Clinic. They are arguably impacted by the road construction work. The center has faced real challenges these last several years, particularly since the closing of an anchor grocery business. Today, while there is positive activity, a number of vacant spaces remain. The permission before you would allow businesses to use the "New Business" banner allowance on private property next to Oracle. Those signs can be up to 64 square feet. How about one sign that identifies the Rancho Vistoso Center, and identifies its tenants, for placement near the north entrance on Oracle Road? Thanks for your service. There is in fact a monument sign at the north entrance off Oracle Road. I believe it has 5 businesses listed on it. I still hope council would permit everyone in the plaza to have access to at least 1 64-square foot banner advertising they are open during road construction. My apologies for the error.
