LA CAÑADA DRIVE REGULAR SESSION AT OR AFTER 5:00 PM CALL TO ORDER Chair Alan Forrest called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Alan Forrest, Chair Niranjan Vescio, Vice Chair David Atler, Commissioner Gregg Hitt , Commissioner Kay Lantow, Commissioner Patricia Olson, Commissioner Tom Marek, Commissioner Staff Present:Peter A. Abraham, Water Utility Director David Allred, Water Operations Manager Mary Rallis, Water Utility Administrator Renee Olvera, Senior Planner CALL TO AUDIENCE - at this time, any member of the public is allowed to address the Commission on any issue not listed on today’s agenda. Pursuant to the Arizona open meeting law, individual Commission members may ask Town staff to review the matter, ask that the matter be placed on a future agenda, or respond to criticism made by speakers. However, the Commission may not discuss or take legal action on matters raised during "Call to Audience." In order to speak during "Call to Audience", please specify what you wish to discuss when completing the blue speaker card. No public speakers at this time. REGULAR SESSION AGENDA 1.REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF THE JANUARY 8, 2024 REGULAR SESSION MEETING MINUTES Motion by Commissioner David Atler, seconded by Commissioner Patricia Olson to approve the January 8, 2024 regular session meeting minutes. Vote: 7 - 0 Carried 2.UPDATE ON OV PATH FORWARD (M. SIMMS) 2/12/24 Minutes, Water Utility Commission Regular Session 1 Senior Planner Renee Olvera provided an update on the following: Community Engagement Plan Currently in Phase 1 Process Awareness and Education Online Engagement Community Events Community-wide survey is now available through March 15, 2024 Vice-Chair Niranjan Vescio asked if a volunteer request was sent to Town Commission and Boards. 3.DISCUSSION ON DRAFT WATER UTILITY ANNUAL REPORT (P. ABRAHAM) Water Utility Director Peter Abraham presented the following on the draft Water Utility Annual Report: This document gives the opportunity to look at all the accomplishments and events of Fiscal Year 22/23 This report is required per Town code Reviewed the schedule for publication Will be available for public record on March 29, 2024 Discussion ensued between the Commission and Water Utility Director Peter Abraham regarding the Water Utility Annual Report. 4.UPDATE AND DISCUSSION ON JANUARY ARIZONA GROWING WATER SMART WORKSHOP RETREAT (P. ABRAHAM) Water Utility Director Peter Abraham reported the following on the Arizona Growing Water Smart Workshop: Held in January 22-24, 2024 in Scottsdale with other municipalities in attendance Listed the two goals defined during the workshop Vice Chair Niranjan Vescio and Commissioner Tom Marek provided a summary of their experience attending the workshop. Discussion ensued between the Commission and Water Utility Director Peter Abraham. Vice Chair Niranjan Vescio provided further commentary on the workshop. Commissioner David Atler provided commentary on Oro Valley Water. Further discussion on this topic ensued between the Commission. 5.UPDATE AND DISCUSSION ON WELLFIELD & AQUIFER CONDITION (P. ABRAHAM) Water Utility Director Peter Abraham reported the following on well-field and aquifer condition: Data collected from 16 active production wells in the main well field Water Utility Operations Manager David Allred informed the commission that the wells need to be shut down for a couple of hours in order to collect the data. Described the well locations by referencing a map Bedrock was hit in C-4 Well Reviewed the data collected and analysis used to assess aquifer condition Number of wells that showed aquifer recovery in 2022 & 2023 Discussion ensued between the Commission, Water Utility Director Peter Abraham and Water 2/12/24 Minutes, Water Utility Commission Regular Session 2 Operations Manager David Allred. 6.TOWN COUNCIL MEETINGS/COMMUNICATIONS (COUNCILMEMBER BOHEN) Councilman Liasion Bohen reported the following: Update on most recent Town Council meeting 7.DIRECTOR'S REPORT (P. ABRAHAM) Water Utility Director Peter Abraham reported the following: Upcoming Town Council meetings Upcoming Water Utility Commission meetings Upper Colorado Basin Snowpack Comparisons Colorado River System Reservoir Status Discussion ensued between the Commission and Water Utility Staff regarding the reported topics.
