The Planning & Zoning Commission recommends approval
Scale of changes do not have a substantive impact beyond existing conditions.

Purpose and Need
Comply with national safety code and equipment standards
Prevent overload conditions that reduce lifespan of crucial equipment
Meet capacity and reliability needs to continue providing safe and reliable power
TEP applying for a Conditional Use Permit as required under the Town of Oro Valley zoning code

What will be built
TEP to upgrade 3.5 miles of existing transmission lines and power poles along Tangerine Road
TEP to replace 32 poles within Oro Valley, between Shannon Road and Copper Mountain Drive
Existing poles range 51-68 feet, replaced with taller, stronger poles ranging 56-79 feet

How it will be built
TEP will use standard line trucks and other heavy equipment to set new poles and remove existing poles
New steel poles to be installed approximately 10-20 feet from current pole locations
Construction is anticipated to begin as soon as possible, pending approvals
Access and temporary impacts for construction will be coordinated with the Oro Valley Community Development & Public Works Department

Design Considerations
Pole Size and Height – designed to minimize the use of guy wires and visual impacts while meeting national standards
New Pole Diameter - average base increase of 11 inches, with a tapered design
Above Ground Equipment - existing cellular equipment to be relocated onto new poles
