CALL TO ORDER—Chair McMillan called the meeting to order at 12:13 p.m. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Byron McMillan,Chair Anne Campbell,Vice Chair Chuck Hollingsworth,Commissioner Charlie Hurt,Commissioner Robert Milkey,Commissioner EXCUSED: Richard Reynolds,Commissioner Winston Tustison,Commissioner STAFF PRESENT: Peter Abraham,P.E.,Water Utility Director Lee Jacobs,P.E.,C.P.M.,Engineering Division Manager ALSO PRESENT: Councilmember Piña 1. DISCUSSION REGARDING THE AVRA VALLEY RECHARGE PROJECT,LOWER SANTA CRUZ RECHARGE PROJECT AND THE NORTHWEST RECHARGE, RECOVERY AND DELIVERY SYSTEM(NWRRDS)TOUR Mr.Abraham expressed appreciation to everyone who attended and were involved in the tour.The partnered portion of the NWRRDS project was presented by Metro Water District Water Resources Manager Wally Wilson.Oro Valley Water Utility Engineering Division Manager Lee Jacobs presented Oro Valley's independent portion of the NWRRDS project. Mr.Abraham explained the NWRRDS project is the result of a partnership Oro Valley Water has with Metro Water and Marana Water.The project allows receipt of additional CAP wet water deliveries.It allows for an additional 4,000 acre feet of recovered CAP water for Oro Valley,an additional 4,000 acre feet of recovered CAP water for Metro Water and an additional 2,400 acre feet of recovered CAP water for Marana Water. Mr.Abraham reviewed the following: -The Lower Santa Cruz Recharge Project,near the Avra Valley Recharge Project,is where Oro Valley stores and will recover a portion of allocated CAP water -Location of future recovery wells 04-15-19 Water Utility Commission 1 -Partnered pipeline alignment -Potential infrastructure challenges -Partnered reservoir area and route -Forebay booster station -Independent portions of pipeline and tie-ins The project is anticipated to be operational in fiscal year 23/24.The partners are working with the consulting community on pipeline alignments.Next fiscal year,all partners will start pipeline designs. Discussion ensued regarding: -Scope of work and balancing other projects -Local water professionals/agencies involvement in political elements -Topography and distances -Booster stations and well site pumps ADJOURNMENT MOTION:A motion was made by Vice Chair Campbell and seconded by Commissioner Hurt to adjourn the meeting at 12:34 p.m.MOTION carried,5-0.
