The Honorable Mayor & Council
Town of Oro Valley
11000 N. La Canada Drive
Oro Valley, Arizona 85737
RE: May 6, 2020 - Public Hearing on Development Impact Fees
Mr. Mayor and Members of the Council,
The Greater Oro Valley Chamber, Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA),
Metropolitan Pima Alliance (MPA), the Tucson Association of Realtors and the Tucson
Metro Chamber respectfully request Mayor and Council not increase residential and
commercial development impact fees at this time.
While we are sympathetic to the financial impacts of COVID-19 on the Town, the business
community is also experiencing similar impacts. The current uncertainty of whether these
financial impacts are a temporary blip or more prolonged in nature requires more time
before considering fee increases of any nature. Impact fees may only be used for costs
associated with new growth, growth that provides the town much-needed general fund
revenues.
With these unprecedented challenges facing our community, now more than ever we need
to support the residential and commercial development driving our local economy. We ask
you collectively, representing the business and development community in Southern
Arizona, to wait until more certain times and improved market conditions before
considering increased fees.
Sincerely,
"TUCSON
