ALLTEL Wireless Communications Facility @
1700 Block of West Tangerine Road
TEP pole # 77, Town of Oro Valley Right -of-Way
ALLTEL is proposing to locate three wireless panel antennas inside a canister
atop an existing TEP power pole, located near the 1750 Block of West Tangerine
Road.
This wireless communications facility will consist of three sectors of one panel
antenna per sector. The coax cables will run inside the power pole. The
equipment shelter will be housed behind a newly constructed block wall
compound.
The TEP pole is located east of La Cholla Blvd, and west of La Canada Drive.,
on the south side of Tangerine Road; in Section 3, T12N, R13E. The existing
pole is a gray steel TEP transmission pole.
This Project includes:
• Installation of three panel antennas atop a replacement power pole. The
existing 51'7" gray steel pole, with diameters ranging from 14" to 25",
would be replaced with a new pole 22" diameter, 56' 7" tall pole. ALLTEL's
antennas would be mounted atop the replacement pole inside a new 22"
diameter canister that matches the diameter of the replacement TEP pole.
Total height of the pole and antennas would be 61'7".
• The associated coaxial cables would be internal to the pole, then
underground to the adjacent equipment shelter.
• Construction of a new equipment compound, 25' x 35", set to the
southwest approximately 40'. The block wall measuring 8' in height will
have an 8' rolling gate with solid backing painted to match the new block
wall. The new bock walled compound will be painted to match the block
wall located to the south of the proposed facility. The 11'x20' pre-fab
equipment shelter and PPC cabinets will be situated inside the compound

wall. A parking space for the technician will be immediately adjacent to
the gate on the east.
• Installation of electrical service will be from the existing facilities.
• Access to this proposed facility will be from Tangerine Road, across the
existing Town of Oro Valley Right-of-Way.
This site is designed to provide improved coverage for the communities along
Tangerine Road through the Town of Oro Valley.
Per my review of the Town Ordinance specific to Wireless Communication
Facilities, this type of facility is eligible for consideration as a Tier 1-Minor,
subject to approval by the P&Z Administrator.
