HomeMy WebLinkAboutOV139434 CONSENT ITEM A ORO VALLEY PLANNING & ZONING DEPARTMENT DEVELOPMENT REVIEW BOARD MEETING DATE: November 22, 1994 TO: DEVELOPMENT REVIEW BOARD FROM: Linda Frew, Planner I SUBJECT: OV 13-94-34 The Boulders Apartment Complex - PERMANENT SIGN REQUEST BACKGROUND: The Boulders, a 240 unit apartment complex, is currently under construction in La Reserve, along Pusch Wilderness Drive. Nature Graphics, Inc., a sign company based in Houston, TX, has presented a plan for two permanent entry-way signs, to be placed at the primary and secondary access points to the project. SUMMARY: The sign elevations, as presented, meet the requirements set forth in the Oro Valley Sign Code, which permits a 24 square foot, directly illuminated entry-way sign(one at each entry), of approved colors and materials, not to exceed 5 feet in height above grade (to the top of the text/logo). The proposed sign is to be constructed of sandblasted wood, painted in Oro Valley approved colors, between limestone pillars. The proposed signs meet all the aforementioned Town criteria and they are also consistent with other signs in La Reserve, which feature the rock pillar motif. The proposed sign colors will be available for DRB review at the meeting. It is not known, at this time, if a representative will be flying in from Houston for this case, but a Nature Graphics representative has conveyed to Staff a request for the DRB's approval, based on the materials submitted. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the signs, as presented, with the stipulation that the well lighting fixtures be properly shielded in conformance with the Oro Valley Lighting Code (Article 6-7, Oro Valley Town Code). SUGGESTED MOTION: I move to approve OV13-94-34, the two permanent entry-way signs proposed for The Boulders apartment complex, with the stipulation that the well lighting proposed conform, in all respects, with the Oro Valley Lighting Code. -V e_S •e4r� W c(C 3 Attachments: L 1.
