-Provide local area for 80+ member HS MTB Teams to practice(HB access), as with ball
sports, no “local” place to use
-National Interscholastic Cycling Association(NICA) –22 leagues nation wide and
growing every year.. Been in contact with AZ NICA chapter president. They are
interested in bringing a race to Oro Valley
-Hosting a NICA race brings 1200+ racers, plus families.
-Provide better, more varied walking/running options for surrounding area, something
else for parents to do while children are using fields, increased home values.
-Continue to build a healthy, robust community.
-Cyclists brought $1.8M to AZ economy
-Mountain Bike Association of Arizona(MBAA) Grants 2016 $26,000+
Skills Parks/Pump Tracks/Bicycle Playgrounds
-Useful by anyone with a bike/skateboard/scooter of any wheel size , skill level and age.
-Progress abilities in a safe, controlled area vs. on the trails or other urban/city
properties.
-Asphalt pump track requires virtually zero maintenance. No watering, mowing,
seeding, etc. Chip seal every 5yrs.
-Vary from $10-$200K+, highly tailored to fit the environment and need.
Parks and Tracks in Arizona:
McDowell Mountain Park:
-Competitive trail venue that hosts state wide
mountain bike races series and endurance events
-Dirt pumptrack currently getting rebuilt this month
due to a need to be bigger
Mesa -Desert Trails Park:
-Progressive dirt jumps, with go around options
-Pump track and skills area with wood and dirt
features
Goodyear -Estrella Hills Bike Park:
-Dirt pumptrack
-Progressive dirt jumps
-Phase 2 to expand park is approved and seeking
funding
Flagstaff –Fort Tuthill :
-Progressive dirt jumps
-Skills area(just completed)
Sedona:
-Dirt pumptrack/flow trail
-Concrete skate park
-More wheeled/bike focused development in works
Kanab, UT
-Pop. 5300, just over UT state line, 6 hours north of PHX
-Cost $320,000 –1 month to construct
-$90K Donation
-$100K City/County
-200K UT State Grant for Economic Development

Estrella Hills
Will add 3 miles of beginner friendly multi-use trail.
All tracks were GPS’d to ensure grade and sideslope
would be sustainable and user friendly.
