The request is in keeping with the intent and harmony of the Rancho Vistoso Planned Area Development(PAD) using natural materials consistent with the PAD and the Town of Oro Valley. While updating the appearance of the directional signage using the faux rust posts and emulating the current Town of Oro Valley directional sign program, the Board feels this will begin the direction they wish to move in relation to their current Sign System Guidelines. The signs are not lit and are only to provide direction to the current business sites, communities and builders of Rancho Vistoso. It was thought the most advantageous method would be to follow suit with the current TOV program in relation to the directional signs specifically allowing them to be consistent throughout Oro Valley. This will also significantly improve the look and feel of the community removing the dated directional signs. We respectfully request that you grant this request. The application shall require the approval of the Conceptual Design Review Board and the Town Council prior to utilizing Chapter 28, Signs. PAD Exemption for Signs Checklist Application for a Planned Area Development (PAD) Exemption shall be submitted as prescribed by the Town, with the required fee(s). In addition, the applicant shall submit "thirty-two (32)"copies of the following: A. Letter requesting exemption from the specific PAD Sign Regulations must be submitted by the property owner within the planning area of the PAD. The letters shall be accompanied by a list of all Homeowners/Master Associations within the subject planning area. Upon review by the Administrator, the request shall be scheduled for public hearing before the Conceptual Design Review Board for their recommendation. B. Applicant shall also submit in writing reasons for the need to exempt from the requirements of the PAD Sign Regulations. Explain why the development cannot successfully utilize and comply with the PAD Sign Regulations. C. A required fee of$700.O0 Not less than Thirty (30) days prior to the Conceptual Design Review Board hearing, Town staff shall verify the list of Associations for accuracy and completeness and shall, by first class mail, notify them of the Conceptual Design Review Board hearing date. The Conceptual Design Review Board shall consider the applicants request for exemption from the PAD Sign Regulations and shall forward their recommendation to the Town Council, which shall render a final decision. During our Tuesday meeting there was some discussion about Sun City and how the work with the Town. History: Rancho Vistoso has their own sign standards that determine the design of all signs in Rancho Vistoso. They recently exempted themselves out of the RV PAD for one specific sign type. The T2 Secondary directional sign was eliminated and they can now use the Town's kiosk sign from the Zoning Code. Code: The sign shall identify subdivisions, builders, model home and Town facilities. The signs are installed by a sign company that has a contract with the Town. Through that contract the Town collets"rental"fees for each panel from the sign company. The sign company collects rental fees from the builders for space on the sign. Question: Robin Colter with Sun City, 917-8070, called to ask the following question about the Kiosk signs. • Can Sun City hire the approved contractor to install signs but own the signs instead of renting space? They state that they are"special" and won't be advertising builders or subdivisions and so they do not want to rent space. They don't want a monthly expense for the use of these signs. uy.3- Can they use the kiosks for directing people to their recreations centers, tennis courts and similar locations in Sun City? Again, she states that they are special and won't be using the kiosks for builders or model homes.
