Meeting Date: 03/19/2026 Requested by: Dennis Roberts, Public Works Submitted Bv: Dennis Roberts, Public Works SUBJECT: DISCUSSION OF THE UPCOMING COMMISSION FIELD TRIP — THURSDAY, APRIL 16, 2026 RECOMMENDATION: This item is for information and discussion only. No action is requested from the Commission. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Stormwater Utility Division is preparing for the upcoming Commission field trip scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026. The purpose of this report is to present a set of proposed field locations for Commission consideration and to invite discussion on the sites of greatest interest. Staff will also seek input on any additional locations previously mentioned or discussed that Commissioners may wish to visit. BACKGROUND OR DETAILED INFORMATION: The annual field trip offers Commissioners an opportunity to view active and completed stormwater infrastructure sites, observe system conditions firsthand, and gain a deeper understanding of the operational and maintenance needs throughout the Town. Staff have identified a draft list of proposed field trip locations representing a range of channels, washes, storm drain facilities, and project areas of interest. The proposed stops include: • Nanini Wash at N Paseo Del Norte • Access Ramp at the Catalina Ridge Channel • Sierra Wash at Naranja • Sierra Wash at Via Mandarina • Sierra Wash at Glover • Storm Drain 89 at E Rancho Vistoso Blvd • Gravel Pit at Pomegranate Dr. • Carmack Wash at N Shadow Mountain Drive near W Spring Valley Dr. During today's discussion, staff will present these locations, including brief descriptions of the issues, improvements, or system conditions that make each site relevant for the field tour. Commissioners are encouraged to provide feedback on: • Whether the proposed sites are of interest • Whether any substitutions or additions should be considered • Whether any sites referenced during prior project presentations or meetings should be added to the itinerary Staff will use Commission feedback to finalize the field trip route and prepare logistics for the April 16 field trip. FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impacts are associated with this informational item. Field trip preparation and transportation coordination are part of the Stormwater Utility Division's routine responsibilities. SUGGESTED MOTION: No motion required. This item is presented for information and discussion only.
