CALL TO ORDER REGULAR SESSION AT OR AROUND 6:00 P.M.
Vice Chair Schoeppach called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Vice Chair Schoeppach led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
CALL TO THE AUDIENCE
Open and closed with no comment.
CONSENT AGENDA
A. Review and/or approval of the July 28, 2009, DRB minutes.
MOTION: A motion was made by Member Ottley and seconded by Member
Anderson to approve the July 28, 2009, DRB minutes.
MOTION carried, 6-0
REGULAR AGENDA
1. Election of a DRB representative for the Sign Sub-committee.
MOTION: A motion was made by Member Shelton and seconded by Member
Anderson to elect Vice Chair Schoeppach to the DRB Sign Sub-committee.

2. OV13-09-12, Eagle Investment Partners, LP, represented by the Soloway
Group, requests approval of architectural elevations for a custom home on
Lot 317 of Stone Canyon IV, located on the western terminus of Granite
Gorge Drive. If you have any questions about this matter, please contact

Mark Soloway, non resident, presented the proposal.
Karen Berchtold, OV Senior Planner, presented the staff report and reviewed the
following:
- Elevations
- Site plan
- Colors and material
Staff recommended approval.
MOTION: A motion was made by Member Shelton and seconded by Member
Wowk to approve OV13-09-12, Eagle Investment Partners, LP, represented by
the Soloway Group, request for approval of architectural elevations for a custom
home on Lot 317 of Stone Canyon IV, with the conditions in Exhibit A.
MOTION carried, 6-0
3. OV13-09-13, Diane Dowd, represented by Soloway Designs, requests
approval of architectural elevations for a custom home on Lot 339 of Stone
Canyon IV, located on the eastern terminus of Granite Gorge Drive. If you

Luckett to approve OV13-09-13, Diane Dowd, represented by Soloway Designs,
request for approval of architectural elevations for a custom home on Lot 339 of
Stone Canyon IV, with the conditions in Exhibit A.

4. OV3-09-01 A, McDonald's Corporation, represented by Fluoresco Lighting
and Signs, requests approval of an exemption from the Rooney Ranch
PAD sign standards, for a proposed restaurant in the Rooney Ranch Parcel
B, located in proximity to the northwest corner of Oracle Road and First
Avenue, parcel # 220090260. The exemption would permit McDonald's to
utilize the Oro Valley Zoning Code Revised sign standards, which permits a
wider range of signs. For questions and additional information, please

Mark Jones, non resident, presented the proposal and explained the exemption
request is a result of McDonald's high impact re-imaging program.
Member Ottley confirmed the additional square footage of the drive thru signs
would be 3 feet not 11 feet as written in letter form. The applicant confirmed the
additional footage would be 3 feet.
Jonathan Lew, OV Planning Technician, provided the staff report. Mr. Lew
reviewed the following:
- Area Map
- PAD
- Existing PAD standards
- Deviations for the PAD
Mr. Lew said staff recommended the DRB send a recommendation of approval to
Town Council with the conditions in Exhibit A.
Vice-Chair Schoeppach asked if the white color is part of a trademark and could
not be contested. Mr. Lew responded that existing PAD standards allow the
color white but would be limited to a 10 square foot wall sign; the applicant is
utilizing the 10 square feet for the golden arch.
Vice-Chair Schoeppach clarified the applicant's request for three signs instead of
two are beyond what code allows. Mr. Lew affirmed.
MOTION: A motion was made by Member Ottley and seconded by Member
Shelton to recommend approval OV3-09-01 A, McDonald's Corporation,
represented by Fluoresco Lighting and Signs, requests approval of an exemption
from the Rooney Ranch PAD sign standards, for a proposed restaurant in the
Rooney Ranch Parcel B, with the conditions in Exhibit A.

5. OV3-09-01, McDonald's Corporation, represented by Fluoresco Lighting
and Signs requests approval of a Master Sign Program for a proposed
McDonald's Restaurant in Rooney Ranch Parcel B, located in proximity to
the northwest corner of Oracle Road and First Avenue, parcel #
220090260. If you have any questions about this matter, please contact
Jonathan Lew, Planning Technician, at (520) 229-4853 or
jleworovalleyaz.gov.
Mark Jones, non resident, approached the podium to answer any questions. The
DRB had none.
Jonathan Lew presented the staff report and reviewed the following:
- Building elevations
- Sign locations
- Wall signs
- Drive thru signs
- Directional signs
- Deviations
Staff recommended DRB send to Town Council for approval to Council.
MOTION: A motion was made by Member Shelton and seconded by Member
Wowk to recommend Council approve of OV3-09-01, McDonald's Corporation,
represented by Fluoresco Lighting and Signs, request of a Master Sign Program
for a proposed McDonald's Restaurant in Rooney Ranch Parcel B.
MOTION carried, 6-0
6. Planning and Zoning Update.
Karen Berchtold, OV Senior Planner, updated the DRB on projects going before
Town Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission.

MOTION: A motion was made by Member Ottley and seconded by Member
Shelton to adjourn the meeting at 6:47 p.m.
