C. GARDENS
Ms. Legner stated that there is a meeting scheduled with the Oro Valley Historical Society
to discuss renewal of the Steam Pump Ranch garden agreement with the Town of Oro
Valley on October 5, 2011. The renewal agreement expires in February of 2012. This
agreement will be forwarded to the Town Council for approval.
Commissioner McClung asked about the Oro Valley Historical Society adding a new
garden. Ms. Legner explained that the Town has the latitude to work with the Oro Valley
Historical Society as long as the location and sensitivity of the site are taken into
consideration. The plan is to have the garden located next to the current garden.
Vice Chair Nagy explained that the new garden would be a six foot by six foot kitchen
garden and would include vegetables, herbs and flowers.
Ms. Legner commented that the agreement states that the Oro Valley Historical
Society will be responsible for all costs relating to the garden except for water.

DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION
Recreation Manager Lynanne Dellerman responded to a previous request by
Commissioner McClung regarding the event at Steam Pump Ranch to be listed on the
website. She checked the website and found that the dates for submission have changed.
The Centennial Committee had originally wanted the events to occur from February
2011 - February 2012 with submissions due by January 2011. They have changed that
due to the responses they received. Submissions are now due by January 2012. She
confirmed that the Steam Pump Ranch tour on February 4, 2012 should be listed on the
official website as soon as the details are finalized.
The next centennial meeting will be held on October 19, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in the Hopi
conference room.

She asked if it may be better to have the joint meeting another time.
- Commissioner McClung recalled that the commission has a list of items to review for
the Oro Valley Historical Society. He recommended meeting separately soon.
- Commissioner Pullara asked if there is a better time than November to meet.

recommended holding a joint meeting twice a year.
- Commissioner Hannon suggested that an agenda be proposed.
- Ms. Legner indicated that staff will distribute the list of issues to the Historic
Preservation Commission and Roxy Johnson.
- Commissioner McClung recommended that since the Oro Valley Historical Society
members are aware of the November 14th date, it would be best to keep that date
and discuss the garden and a couple of other items.
- Resident Bill Adler suggested that the two organizations discuss fundraising to obtain
a certificate of occupancy at Steam Pump Ranch.
- Vice Chair Nagy suggested that there should be a meeting with the Oro Valley
Historical Society on November 14th to discuss two items: 1) update on the license
agreement at Steam Pump Ranch and 2) funding.
- Commissioner Pullara indicated that she is comfortable with the chair and vice chair
determining the agenda items.
- Ms. Johnson will determine the best time for the Oro Valley Historical Society members.
Vice Chair Nagy recapped that a joint meeting with the Oro Valley Historical Society will
be held on November 14, 2011. The time is to be determined.
