APPROVAL OF MAY 8, 2007 REGULAR SESSION MINUTES The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, May 8, 2007 Regular Session Minutes will be provided to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board for their review and approval at or before the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Regular Session scheduled for July 10, 2007. CALL TO AUDIENCE Chair Dennis Ottley opened the Call to the Audience. Chair Dennis Ottley closed the Call to the Audience. 2. PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD LIAISON COUNCIL MEMBER REPORT Council Member Terry Parish was unable to attend this meeting. 3. Hopi Room, Development Services Building, Town Hall 4. CONSIDERATION OF ELECTRIC POWERED MODEL AIRCRAFT USE AT NARANJA TOWN SITE -DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder reported that the information provided by Mr. Robert Schumann was forwarded to the Legal Department review. Ms. Reeder commented that she should have information at the July 10, 2007 Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Meeting. Mr. Kevin Houser, 1286 West Ziziphus Place, expressed his support to the possible use of the Naranja Town Site to fly Electric Powered Model Aircrafts. Mr. Houser thanked the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board for their time and consideration. 5. STRATEGIES FOR UTILIZING ORO VALLEY MUNICIPAL POOL AT JAMES D. KRIEGH PARK DURING WINTER MONTHS WHILE CONTROLLING ENERGY COSTS AND INCREASES USER FEES OVERALL AND POTENTIAL IMPLEMENTATION OF WINTER PREMIUMS — DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder reported the Finance Department has been directed to research, analysis and make recommendations in regards to a fee schedule study. Ms. Reeder reported that she would continue to provide information to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and that the Parks & Recreation and Finance Departments will work closely together on this significant project. 6. RESIDENCY DISCOUNTS FOR PROGRAMS AND FACILITY USAGE — DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder reported the Finance Department has been directed to research, analysis and make recommendations in regards to a fee schedule study. PARKS & RECREATION VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD—DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board requested Town Staff to ask for the Parks & Recreation Volunteer of the Year Award presentation be placed on the Town Council, July 18, 2007 Regular Session Meeting. 8. 2007 ANNUAL ARIZONA PARKS & RECREATION ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE AND TRADE SHOW PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD PARTICIPATION—DISCUSSION Parks & Recreation Ainsley Reeder reported that the 2007 Arizona Parks & Recreation Association (APRA) Conference and Trade Show will be held at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort in Tucson in August 27 - 31. Ms. Reeder invited the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board to volunteer at the 2007 APRA Conference. The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board expressed interest in volunteering at the APRA Conference. 9. LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN (LEEDS)—DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board requested this agenda item continue to be added to future Parks & Recreation Advisory Board agendas. 10. STATUS REPORT ON THE NARANJA TOWN SITE DEVELOPMENT— DISCUSSION Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder reported that the Request for Qualifications regarding the Naranja Town Site Public Educational Campaign and citizen survey was noticed. Ms. Reeder reported that the Naranja Town Site trail signage will be installed by the end of the week. 11. FRIENDS OF THE PARKS—DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION Board Member Bob Delaney reported that he talked with Mr. Dick Johnson about the Friends of the Parks. Mr. Delaney commented that Mr. Johnson was also looking for someone to lead the Friends of the Parks. 12. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS Chair Dennis Ottley reported on the Steam Pump Ranch. 3 6/12/07 Minutes, Parks& Recreation Advisory Board 13. PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR'S REPORT Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder welcomed Senior Office Assistant Charissa Martinez to the Parks & Recreation Department. Ms. Reeder mentioned that the Town Clerks Office received four applications from interested citizens for the open seat of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board. 14. PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD CHAIR REPORT Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Chair Dennis Ottley had not report. 15. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS • Naranja Town Site Renaming 16. SCHEDULING NEXT PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD MEETING The next Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Regular Session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at or after 6:30 p.m. in the Development Services Building, Hopi Conference Room 17. ADJOURNMENT Chair Dennis Ottley adjourned the June 12, 2007, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Regular Session Meeting at 7:40 p.m. with no objections.
