1. APPROVAL OF MAY 8, 2007 AND JUNE 12, 2007 REGULAR SESSION MINUTES
MOTION: Board Member Bob Delaney made a MOTION to approve the Tuesday, May
8, 2007 and June 12, 2007 Regular Session Minutes as approved. Board
Member Robert Evans SECONDED the motion. Motion UNANIMOUSLY
carried. 6-0.

2. PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD LIAISON COUNCIL MEMBER
REPORT
Council Member Terry Parish reported that Town Council plan to schedule a study session to
discuss the 2008 Pima County Bond Election.
Council Member Parish reported that at the 2007 Independence Day Celebration at the
Canada del Oro Riverfront Park Wal-Mart presented the Town with a check in the amount of
$250,000 for the Naranja Town Site Fund.

The Town of Oro Valley will host the 2007 Governor's Rural Development Conference
August 15-17, 2007. This year's conference theme is "Innovation in Arizona— Solutions
for a Growing Economy". Economic developers, business leaders, community leaders
and others from across the state will gather at the Hilton El Conquistador Golf and Tennis
Resort to focus on education, foundation and innovation in Arizona.
4. NAME CHANGE OF THE NARANJA TOWN SITE —DISCUSSION AND
POSSIBLE ACTION
Council Member Terry Parish asked the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board to reconsider
changing the name of the Naranja Town Site at this time. Council Member Parish reported
that 70% percent of the residents know about the Naranja Town Site. Council Member Parish
suggested waiting until after the 2008 Pima County Bond Election then possibly unveiling a
new name on opening day.
Vice Chair Lyra Done recommended the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board proceed with a
name change recommendation before the 2008 Pima County Bond Election then forward to
Town Council for their consideration.

Following discussion the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board made a motion to table this
item.
MOTION: Board Member Bob Delaney made a MOTION to TABLE this item.
Board Member Robert Evans SECONDED the motion. Motion
UNANIMOUSLY carried. 6-0.
5. FEES STRUCTURE UPDATE —DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION
Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder reported that the Finance Department has begun
working with Parks and Recreation staff to update the Parks and Recreation user fees
structure. Data Analyst Art Cuaron is currently in the data collection and analysis phase.
6. PARKS & RECREATION VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD—DISCUSSION
AND POSSIBLE ACTION
Chair Dennis Ottley encouraged everyone to attend and applaud the first Parks & Recreation
Volunteer of the Year Award recipient Mr. Mike Wilson.
Presentation of the Parks & Recreation Volunteer of the Year Award will be presented to Mr.
Mike Wilson at the Town Council, Regular Session Meeting on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at
7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
7. 2007 ANNUAL ARIZONA PARKS & RECREATION ASSOCIATION
CONFERENCE AND TRADE SHOW PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY
BOARD PARTICIPATION—DISCUSSION
Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder reported that the 2007 Arizona Parks &
Recreation Association (APRA) Conference and Trade Show will be held at the JW Marriott
Starr Pass Resort in Tucson in August 27 - 31. Ms. Reeder explained that the Boards and
Commissions Day was scheduled for Thursday, August 30, 2007.

8. STATUS REPORT ON THE NARANJA TOWN SITE DEVELOPMENT—
DISCUSSION
Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder reported that only one submittal was received
for the initial Naranja Town Site Public Education program Request for Qualifications
(RFQ). The RFQ was re-advertised on July 20, 2007 and submittals are due on August 10,
2007.
Ms. Reeder also reported that Town Council discussed the general obligation bond election
process at a Study Session on July 25, 2007.

9. FRIENDS OF THE PARKS—DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION
Board Member Bob Delaney reported Mr. Dick Johnson suggested placing the Friends of the
Parks under the umbrella of the Oro Valley Foundation. Otherwise Board Member Delaney
continues the search for someone to lead the Friends of the Parks.
10. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS
Board Member Margot Hurst reported on the Historical Preservation Commission. Poster
Frost Associates gave an update on the stabilization progress of the Steam Pump Ranch at the
July 9, 2007 Historical Preservation Commission meeting.
Board Member Susannah Myerson reported that Planning and Zoning Commission agenda
will hold a Study Session in regards to the General Plan Amendment for portions of Rancho
Vistoso Neighborhood 3, (generally bounded on the north by Rancho Vistoso Boulevard, on
the east by Oracle Road, on the south by Tangerine Road, and on the west by the Big Wash.).
Vice Chair Lyra Done reported that the Finance and Bond Committee plan to meet next
month to discuss the mid year review.
11. PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Parks & Recreation Director Ainsley Reeder reported that the Independence Day Celebration
was once again a success. It was anticipated approximately 4,000 to 5,000 people
participated in the Fourth of July event at the Canada del Oro Riverfront Park.
Ms. Reeder also reported that the Fourth of July event at the Oro Valley Municipal Pool was
a huge success with a 30% increase in attendance.
Ms. Reeder reported that the FY 07/08 Final Budget was adopted by the Town Council. The
Town has begun using the new automated system MUNIS Enterprise Resource Planning
System.
Ms. Reeder reported that the Parks Division has been very active with the Steam Pump
Ranch project.
Ms. Reeder reported that the Dog Park at James D. Kriegh Park was closed for renovations.
Renovations include new turf, shade structures, concrete pads, and site furniture,
decomposed granite and sidewalks. The re-opening is scheduled for mid August.
Ms. Reeder reported that the Aquatics and Recreation Divisions also are having a busy
summer with swim classes; Oro Valley Summer Fun Camp and 12th Annual Oro Valley
Junior Golf Program.

12. PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD CHAIR REPORT
Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Chair Dennis Ottley reported that Planning and Zoning
Director Sarah More continues the development to include Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEEDS) into Town standards. Town Council scheduled a Study
Session on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 to discuss LEEDS.
Chair Ottley commented that the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board would continue to
follow LEEDS development.

The next Parks & Recreation Advisory Board Regular Session is scheduled for Tuesday,
August 14, 2007 at or after 6:30 p.m. in the Development Services Building, Hopi
Conference Room.

Chair Dennis Ottley adjourned the July 10, 2007, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
Regular Session Meeting at 7:15 p.m. with no objections.
